Vision-Mission and Values

Vision

To be a globally recognised centre of excellence known for its residentially based Anglican Theological Education and formation for vocational ministry that serves to resource both lay and ordained members of the wider church.

Mission

The College seeks to be a globally recognised Anglican theological college that:

  • Sets high academic standards which are comparable to other similar institutions
  • Provides contextualised theological education and ministry formation for both lay and ordained members of the church
  • Plays an important role in formation and enables vocation
  • Offers residential theological and ministerial development as optimal for centring ministry around a worshipping community
  • Is well governed and managed
  • Provides academic learning in an attractive environment that shows care and concern for staff and students
  • Is sufficiently resourced to offer pedagogy in challenging and creative ways
  • Serves as a symbol/sacrament of unity within ACSA that serves to advance our ecclesiology

This is given expression in the existing Mission Statement:

  • Empowering staff and students to become co-creators and facilitators of communities of faith and for the healing of the world, contributors to social change and social cohesion, and enablers of a truly transforming humanity;
  • Preparing men and women for the church’s ministry, seeking to discern God’s will, empowered by the Holy Spirit, to transform lives and the structures of society according to God’s holy will;
  • Advancing a method of theological reflection that is interdisciplinary, contextual and critical, anchored in the Anglican tradition and ethos, catholic in spirituality, evangelical in teaching and praxis, and ecumenical in outlook, for the renewal of the church; 

 

  • Proudly taking its position at the heart of the life and mission of the church, more specifically, the Anglican Church of Southern Africa (ACSA), so as to proclaim the gospel of Christ to the world 
  • Growing a discipleship of quality priestly ministry, from an African worldview and context, that is critical and creative, informed and transforming, and thus contributes to a moral leadership for church and society.
